Experience an evening where music, history, and civic engagement come together.
Music has long reflected the moments and ideas that shape public life. Across generations, songs have captured shared experiences, cultural shifts, and the questions of their time—offering a unique window into history.
The Sound of History explores how music has reflected the movements, ideas, and defining moments that shape public life. Through live music and engaging storytelling, guests will be invited to consider how music helps tell the story of our past; and continues to influence how we understand our communities today. We're thrilled to welcome back Stephan Maynard Caliendo, Dean of North Central College and musician Cheryl Rodey.
Proceeds from The Sound of History support Illinois YMCA Youth and Government and its work developing the next generation of civic leaders. Your participation helps expand opportunities for students to build leadership skills, engage in the civic process, and discover the power of their own voices.
